My husband and I were lucky to have the experience to ourselves, possibly because no one else was brave enough to book for early January! We met five beautiful collies, learned a lot from Nij, saw the dogs in their element, and got to try our own effort at shepherding with the dogs. It was a wonderful, unique day which my husband loved receiving as his Christmas gift. The abbey and cafe were also lovely elements of the day. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of it!Posted onVerified A View from Inside the Boundary it will make you Smile I met up with Nij at Launde Abbey on perhaps the coldest day of the year we encountered a biting wind....Nij was very friendly and after a hot drink and a plan of action I was introduced to the dogs, Misty, Lara,Kai, Kap all playful and energetic, after a short while we made our way to the fields, meeting up with the sheep. The transformation of the dogs and Nij was something to behold effortlessly moving into work mode, commands, whistles and know how like a conductor guiding the orchestra....directing in English and Welsh the sheep were swiftly brought under control. After an enjoyable lunch at Launde Abbey we made our way to Nij's training pen and another masterclass ensued....Nij has a way with his dogs and I enjoyed both his company and his skills and knowledge of farming and the valued use of the dog in his everyday work. Thank you Nij for a special day and hope to see you in May 2026 for your event at Launde Abbey.Posted onVerified Highly recommended experience day *0th birthday treat for my daughter. We had a great day despite the constant drizzle. Nij was very good company , highly experienced and informative. The dogs were just amazing and could have slipped one in to bring home… Good lunch and cakes at the cafe at Launde Abbey (not included). Would highly recommend for dog /animal lovers . My 16 and 7 year old grandkids would have enjoyed it too!Posted onVerified Great day This was a fantastic day out, with Nij and his dogs. He was very informative about the sheep dog world. Also quite humorous too, with plenty of snippets of advice that we could use for training our own dog. All in all a good fun day experience well worth the visit. Thanks Nij.Posted onVerified Fascinating Sheepdog Experience Last Friday we spent most of the day with Nij enjoying a fascinating insight into the world of the sheepdog and the relationships between dog, handler and sheep. We've always marvelled at sheepdogs working but now feel we have some understanding of how things work - we particularly enjoyed trying a little ourselves! Nij was full of fascinating information as well as being charming and good company throughout.Load more
